The Change That Makes Factory Prep Matter Now
If you have sold on FBA for a while, you may still be assuming Amazon will fix an unprepped shipment for a fee. That option is gone. As of 1 January 2026, Amazon discontinued all FBA prep and labelling services in the US — FNSKU barcode labelling, poly-bagging, bubble wrapping, bundling, boxing, kitting and general compliance prep — across every inbound channel including standard FBA, AWD, AGL, SEND and the Supply Chain Portal.
The consequence is blunt: miss any of it, and the shipment gets rejected — sent back at your expense, or disposed of with a fee attached. Every unit now has to arrive fully prepped, which means the work happens either in your own warehouse, at a prep centre, or at the factory before the container is sealed.
For a cooler bag programme shipped from Asia, the third option is usually the cheapest and the fastest — because the unit is already in hand, already being polybagged, and already being cartoned. Doing it twice is the expensive part.

Note the poly bag detail, because it is the most common rejection cause and it is a printing decision made long before shipping: if the opening is 5 inches or wider, a suffocation warning must be printed directly on the bag, not on a sticker, and the FNSKU barcode must be scannable through the bag without opening it. Bag sizing matters too — an oversized bag means the product shifts, the barcode folds, and the unit fails at receiving.
Warning text size is specified by bag dimensions: bags totalling 60 inches or more in length plus width require 24-point minimum print; 40 to 59 inches require 18-point. A cooler backpack polybag is usually in that range, so this is a real specification rather than a footnote.
- Carton limits. Master cartons max at 25 inches on the longest side and 25 inches on the second-longest, with weight capped at 50 lb for standard receiving; anything beyond triggers oversize handling, and boxes over 50 lb need a "Heavy Package" label. Coolers are bulky — carton planning is not an afterthought.
- Prep rules change. A listing that was fully compliant 18 months ago is not guaranteed to be compliant today — confirm current category requirements before each production run, not after.
- Returns from performance claims. A cooler advertised at hours it cannot hold generates refunds and one-star reviews. Advertise the tested figure.
- Leaks. A cooler that leaks melt-water onto a customer's car seat produces exactly the review that kills a listing.
Why Construction Decides Your Review Score
On Amazon, product construction is not an abstract quality question — it is your return rate and your star rating. Two build decisions drive most cooler complaints.
Welded, not stitched
A sewn cooler has needle holes down every seam, and melt-water finds them, usually at the base where water pools and weight concentrates. We weld the body, base and closure at 27.12 MHz into one continuous skin with no stitch holes, weld the food-grade liner rather than stitching it, and anchor load-bearing straps to welded external zones so no needle penetrates the sealed chamber. Then we water-immersion test finished bags as a batch, because a weld defect is invisible once the bag is lined and assembled.
Cold-hold you can advertise
We measure cold-hold with a multi-channel thermocouple temperature tester — probes logging inside the bag and at ambient over time — so the number on your listing comes from a measurement rather than an estimate. If you want to claim 48 hours, we will tell you whether the build you have specified actually reaches it, and what it would take if not.

A: Yes — send your FNSKU file per SKU and we label every unit before packing, with the barcode positioned so it scans through the poly bag without opening it. Since Amazon ended its own prep and labelling services in the US at the start of 2026, this now has to be done somewhere before the units reach a fulfilment centre; doing it at the factory avoids handling the goods twice.
Q: What are the poly bag rules for a cooler bag?
