Two Ways to Buy Custom Cooler Bags — and When Each Is Right
Search for custom cooler bags and most results are promotional catalogues: a stock bag, your logo printed on it, small minimums, and some lines produced within a day. That model is genuinely useful, and for many buyers it is the right one. Factory-direct manufacturing is a different model, and it is worth being clear about which one fits your order before you request a quote.
| Catalogue + imprint (promotional distributor) | Factory-direct (Sealock) | |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Often a few dozen pieces | 300 pieces per design and colourway |
| Speed | Days to two weeks; some lines ship within 24 hours of approval | Samples 7–15 days, production 30–45 days, plus freight |
| What you customise | Logo placement on an existing bag in existing colours | Logo, shell colour, materials, insulation, closure, size, features — or the whole design |
| Build quality | Whatever the catalogue bag is | Specified by you — up to welded, immersion-tested, 48-hour builds |
| Unit price at volume | Includes distributor margin at every quantity | Factory price, falling as quantity rises |
| Exclusivity | Your competitor can buy the same bag with their logo | Your design is yours |
What "Custom" Can Mean at the Factory
Customisation is not one decision. It is a ladder, and every rung changes cost and lead time differently.
| Level | What changes | Effect on cost and time |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Logo on an existing build | Your logo on one of our current bags, in a stock colour | Fastest and lowest cost; no new pattern, no dye lot |
| 2. Your colours | Pantone-matched shell, webbing, zipper tape and pulls | Adds a dye lot with its own minimum and lead time upstream of the factory |
| 3. Your specification | Capacity, insulation tier, closure type, shell material, pockets and harness | New pattern and sample round; still no mould tooling |
| 4. Your design | A product built from your sketch, reference or brief | Full development cycle with multiple sample rounds |
Most bulk branded orders sit at level 1 or 2. That is a sensible place to start: one of our proven welded builds, your logo, and either a stock colour or your brand colour. Because soft bags need no injection tooling, moving up to level 3 or 4 is pattern engineering and sampling rather than a mould investment, so genuine customisation stays realistic at 300 pieces.
Not sure which level you need? Send your logo, rough quantity and how the bags will be used. We will suggest the simplest build that does the job and quote it.

Putting the Logo On
The right method depends on the shell material and on whether the bag is sealed. Available methods:
- Screen print — bold one- or multi-colour logos at volume; the most cost-efficient choice for bulk orders.
- UV or digital print — full-colour artwork, gradients and photographic detail on smooth coated shells.
- Welded TPU or silicone patch — a raised, premium logo that bonds to the shell without piercing it.
- Deboss — subtle and durable on TPU and coated shells; suits higher-end gifts.
- Woven label on a welded tab — a brand-label look rather than an imprint.
- Custom hardware — logo zipper pulls, printed webbing, branded buckles.
- Embroidery — available on sewn bags and external components only.
To get a proof right first time, send vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or a PDF with vector paths), Pantone references taken from a physical swatch book rather than a screen, and the size and position you want for each location. Fine line work that prints cleanly may soften in a deboss or a patch — we will flag that at proof stage.

A Branded Bag That Leaks Is Negative Advertising
This is the point most bulk cooler buyers underweight. A branded cooler bag is used in public — at the beach, on a job site, at a tailgate — which is exactly why it works as branding. It also means its failures happen in public, with your logo on them.
The common failures in cheap cooler bags are predictable: melt-water seeping through stitched seams onto a car seat, a liner that smells after a few weeks, a strap tearing out of the shell, and cold-hold far shorter than the bag implies. None of those are visible on a catalogue page, and all of them attach to the brand printed on the front.
That is why build quality deserves as much attention as logo placement. What we use to prevent those failures:
- High-frequency welded bodies and liners at 27.12 MHz — one continuous skin with no stitch holes for water to find.
- Food-grade liners across the entire range — smooth, wipe-clean and non-porous.
- Strap anchoring outside the sealed chamber — load-bearing stitching goes into welded external zones, never through the water barrier.
- Water-immersion testing of finished sealed builds before they ship.
- Measured cold-hold — a multi-channel thermocouple tester logs temperature inside the bag over time, so any figure you print on a hangtag is one you can stand behind.
Not every order needs the top specification. A trade-show giveaway does not need a 48-hour immersion-rated build. But a bag a customer will use for years, with your name on it, deserves one that does not fail in front of them.
Bulk Pricing: What Actually Moves the Number
Unit price on a custom cooler bag is driven by a small number of decisions. In rough order of impact:
- Insulation tier. Wall thickness and foam type set the cold-hold class and are the largest single cost lever. Specify the hours you need, not the most available.
- Closure. An airtight welded zipper is one of the most expensive components on a sealed cooler; a welded roll-top or standard zipper costs less.
- Quantity per variant. Setup is largely fixed per design, so price falls fastest just above the minimum. One design in one colour at 900 pieces prices better than three colours at 300 each.
- Colour. A custom Pantone shell adds a dye lot; stock colours avoid it.
- Panel count and features. Labour follows complexity, not size — a large simple bag can cost less than a small complicated one.
- Logo method and number of locations. Each extra print location or method adds a step.
When you request a quote, ask for price breaks — for example at 300, 1,000 and 3,000 pieces — so you can see where the curve flattens. We also include carton dimensions, units per carton and total CBM with every quotation, because cooler bags are bulky and ocean freight is charged by volume. The full cost logic is in what drives the price of a custom cooler bag.
How a Bulk Branded Order Runs
- Brief. Send your logo, quantity, use case and any colour or build requirements — or name one of our existing models to start from.
- Quotation. Unit price at your breaks, sample cost and lead time, production lead time, carton and CBM data.
- Digital proof. Logo size, placement, colour and method on each location, for your approval.
- Physical sample in 7–15 days. Test it: fill it with water and turn it over, time its ice, carry it loaded. Approve it and it becomes the signed reference for production.
- Production in 30–45 days after sample and deposit confirmation, with in-line weld inspection and AQL sampling at outgoing inspection.
- Packing and shipping — branded polybags or boxes, hangtags, barcodes and carton labels to your specification. Third-party inspection is welcome before the balance is paid.
Work backwards from the date you need the bags in hand. For summer campaigns in northern markets, that usually means committing in winter, ahead of the Spring Festival slowdown.
Builds to Start From
Naming one of these in your enquiry is the fastest route to an accurate quote — the specification is fixed and you change only the logo, the colour or the details you want different.

FAQ
Q: What is the minimum order for custom cooler bags with a logo?
A: 300 pieces per design, per size and colourway, negotiable on larger programmes. If you need fewer than that, a promotional distributor with catalogue bags is usually the better fit, and we would say so.
Q: How long does a bulk order take?
A: Samples take 7–15 days, production 30–45 days after sample approval and deposit, then ocean freight and clearance. Plan around six to ten weeks from approved sample to bags in hand, depending on destination. If your deadline is shorter, tell us at the start — air freight on part of the order can sometimes bridge an event date.
Q: Can you match our brand colours?
A: Yes — shell, webbing, zipper tape and pulls can be Pantone-matched. Specify from a physical swatch book, and expect to approve colour per component, since the same reference reproduces differently on a TPU shell, a woven label and a moulded buckle. A custom colour adds a dye lot with its own minimum and lead time; stock colours avoid both.
Q: Which logo method is best?
A: Screen print for bold logos at volume, UV print for full-colour artwork, a welded patch or deboss for a premium feel. On sealed leakproof coolers we do not embroider the body, because needle holes would let water through. Send your artwork and how the bags will be used, and we will recommend the method.
Q: Can we put our logo on one of your existing designs?
A: Yes, and it is the fastest and lowest-cost way to start — no new pattern, and if you take a stock colour, no dye lot either. Name the model and tell us what you want changed.
Q: Will our design be exclusive?
A: A design developed to your brief belongs to you and we will not reproduce it for another customer. If you put your logo on one of our existing builds, the base bag remains in our range, but your colours, branding and any changes you specify are yours.
