Sealock manufactures the EVA Hard-Shell Insulated Lunch Box, model SL-P1023, a molded lunch case measuring 23 × 22 × 9 cm with a food-grade PEVA liner and a full-perimeter zipper that opens the case flat. The shell is compression-molded EVA over a fabric face, so the box holds its shape inside a backpack or a tote and protects what is packed in it — a bento tray, a glass container, a sandwich box — instead of collapsing around it the way a soft lunch bag does. Yellow shell with orange zipper binding and a matching orange webbing handle is the stock colourway; shell colour, binding colour, liner and logo are all open for OEM programmes.

At a Glance

  • Compression-molded EVA hard shell — keeps its shape in a packed bag and shields the contents from crushing.
  • Food-grade PEVA liner — smooth, wipe-clean interior safe for direct contact with food and gel packs.
  • Full-perimeter zipper — opens flat like a clamshell for easy loading and easy cleaning.
  • Zip mesh pocket in the lid — holds cutlery, napkins or a flat gel pack clear of the food.
  • Compact 23 × 22 × 9 cm footprint — sized to a standard two- or three-compartment bento tray.

Molded EVA Shell

The shell is EVA foam compression-molded in a heated tool against a fabric outer face, which is why the panels hold a defined radius at every corner instead of creasing. That rigidity is the point of the format. A soft lunch bag packed next to a laptop and a water bottle transmits every squeeze straight to the food inside; a molded case takes the load in the shell and leaves the interior volume intact, which is the difference between arriving with a bento tray and arriving with its contents redistributed. The same molded structure also gives the box a flat, stable base so it sits level on a desk or a tailgate, and the fabric face takes print and embossing cleanly for branded programmes.

Food-Grade Liner and Lid Pocket

Inside is an insulating foam layer behind a food-grade PEVA liner — a smooth, light-coloured surface that wipes clean with a damp cloth and is safe for direct contact with food, ice packs and condensation. Light-coloured liners are specified deliberately on lunch products: a spill or a stain is visible immediately, so the box gets cleaned rather than quietly accumulating residue in a corner. The lid carries a zip mesh pocket that keeps cutlery, a napkin or a slim gel pack separated from the food and stops small items rattling loose every time the case is opened. Every insulated product Sealock builds uses a food-grade inner liner, whether PEVA film, TPU membrane or food-grade waterproof laminate, selected to suit the product class.

Zipper, Handle and Daily Use

A zipper runs the full perimeter of the case on a bound tape, so the lid swings back on its hinge line and the box opens flat — the whole interior is reachable without digging, and both halves can be wiped out in one pass. A webbing handle is anchored across the top edge for hand carry, and the case slides flat into a backpack, a tote or a desk drawer when the handle is not needed. This is a splash-resistant, wipe-clean lunch case rather than a sealed cooler: it will shrug off condensation and everyday spills inside the liner, but it is not a waterproof or submersible product, and we do not rate it as one.

Cold Retention

With a frozen gel pack in the lid pocket or laid on top of the contents, SL-P1023 holds a chilled lunch cold for up to 6 hours — the desk-to-lunchtime window the format exists for. Cold-hold is set by the insulation thickness behind the liner, and on a compact lunch case that thickness is deliberately limited to keep the exterior small and the interior usable. Where a programme needs a longer hold, the same tooling accepts a thicker foam layer at some cost to interior volume, and we test the result on a multi-channel thermocouple rig with probes at the base, the wall and directly under the zipper line so the curve shows where cold is actually being lost.

Printing & Logo Options

Brand it your way: silk-screen, heat-transfer, digital and UV printing, embossed or debossed logos on the molded face, and rubber or woven patch logos. Embossing works particularly well on this shell because the logo can be cut into the mold itself, giving a raised or recessed mark that is part of the panel rather than applied to it — worth specifying early, since it is a tooling decision rather than a finishing one.

How We Make and Test It

SL-P1023 starts with EVA sheet compression-molded against a fabric face in a heated tool, after which the foam insulation and the food-grade PEVA liner are assembled and the perimeter zipper, binding, lid mesh pocket and webbing handle are sewn in. High-frequency welding is Sealock's best-known process, but sewn construction is an equally professional in-house capability and it is the right one for a molded case like this — bound and stitched edges are what give an EVA shell its clean perimeter and its durability at the hinge line. Incoming EVA sheet, fabric, liner film, zippers and webbing pass IQC; mold temperature, cycle time and stitch quality are checked at intervals through the run under IPQC; and every batch clears OQC before packing. The standing test suite covers load testing to 1,500-plus cycles, zipper fatigue to 3,000 cycles, tensile and bonding strength, abrasion, colour fastness and colour difference. Customer-witnessed inspection is available and third-party inspection through SGS or QIMA can be arranged on request.

OEM / ODM and Full Custom Development

Sealock builds the SL-P1023 for OEM and ODM brands from an MOQ of 300 pcs on the existing mold, FOB Guangdong, with samples in 7–15 days and production in 30–45 days. Shell and binding colours, liner specification, insulation thickness, interior organisation, handle or strap configuration and logo application are all customizable on the current tool. A different shape or size means a new mold, which carries tooling cost and additional lead time but opens the shell profile completely — bring a sketch, a competitor sample or a target dimension set and our China base develops the case from scratch. Two further lunch models are joining this line, so buyers building a full lunch programme can specify across sizes on shared materials and branding. Production runs across our Guangdong facilities and our Ho Chi Minh City plant, giving buyers a choice of origin for tariff planning.

FAQ

Will a standard bento box fit?

Yes. The 23 × 22 × 9 cm interior footprint is sized around a common two- or three-compartment bento tray with room above it for a flat gel pack. Send the container dimensions you are packaging with and we will confirm fit at sample stage.

How long does it keep food cold?

Up to about 6 hours with a frozen gel pack — a working day from morning to lunch. Without a cold source, any insulated case only slows the rate of warming; it does not refrigerate.

Is it waterproof?

No. It is splash-resistant and wipe-clean inside and out, which is what a lunch case needs, but it is not sealed and should not be treated as a waterproof cooler. For leakproof service, see our welded cooler range.

Can we have a different shape, not just a different colour?

Yes, with a new mold. Colour, liner, interior layout and branding change on the existing tool with no tooling cost; a new profile needs a mold, so share your launch date early and we will schedule tooling and sampling around it.

What are the MOQ and lead times?

MOQ is 300 pcs on the existing mold, FOB Guangdong, with samples in 7–15 days and production in 30–45 days. Logo customization is included as standard — silk-screen, heat transfer, embossing or patch. Send your spec for a quote.
